Ultimate Bedroom Makeover

I finally transformed my once co-ed master into a women’s safe space! I had a blast with my DIY room Reno and the results exceeded my expectations.

Inspiration:

It all started when I fell in love with the idea of a floral mural accent wall behind my bed. I searched and searched for the perfect wallpaper that wouldn’t break the bank and I ran into the perfect one on my Houzz app!

Furniture:

I knew that to feminize my space I would need lighter furniture. I still liked the furniture I had, and I couldn’t push myself in to purchasing more, so I chose to paint it white.

When I painted the dresser white, I also spray painted the hardware with a matte gold which saved a nice penny on having to replace them.

I painted my dresser and my bed white and reupholstered the leather on my bed with a black and white striped fabric.

I found the perfect nightstands from At Home and managed to get them at 50% off!   I knew I wanted the pieces to have a modern aesthetic playing with texture and gold hardware.

I wanted to create a boutique feel by incorporating oversized black lamp shades that bought my nightstand and lamp to the same height level as my bed. Scaling properly is important to me because if the pieces are not to scale, they will look out of place.

Lighting:

I wanted a chandelier sooooo bad, but I couldn’t come to terms with letting go of my ceiling fan. Yes, I am a person who MUST sleep with the fan on lol.

I managed to find the perfect piece that gave me the best of both worlds! I snagged my ceiling fan chandelier from Lowes for $50 off original price!

The Office:

I wanted an office space in my room without it being an eye sore or function in my space. I searched and searched and finally came across a hanging desk space on Amazon.com and I am in love.

The size is perfect, and it elevated my space while giving me the element on design I wanted.  I chose touse a mauve color for my desk chair and ottoman.  I grabbed both pieces from Ross in a suede finish!  I also incorporated greenery to keep a fresh vibe.

I also stuck with the mauve accent in the wallpaper as my pop of color everywhere else. I wanted different textures and shades of mauve for my bedding and pillows to allow the wallpaper to continue to be the star of that focal point and it kept the girly feel.

The Wall Décor:

I knew I wanted a gallery wall, but I didn’t want pictures or sayings…crazy right? While thrifting at Goodwill I ran across a few different sets of brass sconces and I knew immediately that was it. I wanted to create a unique wall full of sconces and mirrors!

I am in love with turn out and completed the idea with a few pieces from At Home as well. I mounted my tv to free up the top of my dresser for books and display.

I have now completed the room of my dreams.

Now on to the next project!
