Tea Time!

One of the most therapeutic and beneficial things you can do for yourself is relax and consume something good for you. I find sitting down enjoying a great cup of tea is the best way to do it. I have been drinking tea for years but lately I have made it a point to select teas that have properties that will improve my health and well being.

In this post I will reveal my top 5 herbal teas and share why I love them so much.

  1. Green Tea – My favorite herbal tea is green tea. Not only does it taste great, it is filled with anti oxidants, vitamins and minerals that promote good health. It is believed to have properties that reduce the risk of getting cancer and as a bonus it helps speed up the metabolism and tastes great.

According to WedMD, as a prescription, green tea is used for genital warts. As a drink or supplement, it is sometimes used for high levels of cholesterol or other fats (lipids) in the blood (hyperlipidemia) and high blood pressure, to prevent heart disease, and to prevent cancer of the lining of the uterus (endometrial cancer) and ovarian cancer. It is also used for many other conditions, but there is no good scientific evidence to support these other uses.


Green Tea can be consumed hot or cold and is a great base tea to use when creating drinks infused with fruit, like peach green tea.

2. Turmeric Tea – One of my go to teas for boosting my immune system is turmeric tea. It is really important, especially during this pandemic, that we consume things that will help keep us healthy. This tea is also known to lower cholesterol, fight Alzheimer’s, reduce inflammation in the body, and help with digestive issues. It has a strong flavor so I like it served hot spiked with orange juice and a dash of cayenne pepper. That is the ultimate immune system boosting cocktail in my opinion.

3. Ginger Tea – I love anything with ginger in it so it is only natural that I enjoy drinking ginger tea. It tastes good on its own but pairs very well when blended with other teas, fruits and spices like cinnamon. It is my go to tea when I have an upset stomach. It is also a good immune system booster, anti inflammatory and as an added bonus it is known to aid in weight loss.

4. Chamomile Tea – When you are restless, this tea is the GOAT! It relaxes you naturally and helps you sleep better. I love the mild taste and fragrant aroma. This tea is truly a gem because it helps with cramps, lowers blood sugar, reduces inflammation and curbs cold symptoms. End your day with a cup of this tea and I promise you will sleep like a baby.

5. Echinacea Tea – I learned about this tea from my mom. She swears by it anytime she starts to catch a cold or is not feeling well. It has a mild taste and is good paired with fruits and sweet spices like cinnamon. It is known to fight off viruses and boost the immune system. It is a potent infection fighter to include urinary tract, upper respiratory and vaginal yeast infections. It is just what the doctor ordered!
